Volunteer Assistance Program
We help volunteers reach wherever they are needed...
Disaster ReliefAt its core, the purpose of humanitarian action is to save the lives and ease the suffering of people caught in acute crises, thereby restoring their ability to rebuild their lives and communities.
From the destruction of buildings to the spread of disease, natural disasters can devastate entire countries overnight. Tsunamis, earthquakes and typhoons do not just wreak havoc on land; they also disrupt peoples lives in both densely populated cities and remote villages. |
Starvation & MalnutritionThe word emergency conjures images of large-scale disasters, such as earthquakes or outbreaks of war. But there are plenty of hidden emergencies, which while receiving little media coverage, can be just as serious.
An estimated 195 million children worldwide suffer from the effects of malnutrition. In fact, malnutrition contributes to at least one-third of the eight million annual deaths of children under five years of age. |
Armed ConflictProviding medical care to people caught in war zones is not a task for the faint of heart. Victims may have been injured by gunfire, knifes, bombings, beatings, or sexual violence. Others are cut off from medical care or denied the ability to seek the treatment they need. Conflict’s consequences are manifold, and need skilled volunteers that can respond with little notice.
